Aussie Clear is a clear penetrating finish for general exterior timber — windows, doors, cladding, furniture. Aussie Coat is a durable amber decking oil, optimised for foot traffic and weather exposure on horizontal surfaces.

Most decks: Aussie Coat for an amber finish, or Walnut Timber Finish if you want a richer warm tone. Grey, weathered decks should be cleaned with Grey Deck Cleaner first to restore the colour before any finish goes on.

No-Rot is a deep-penetrating wood preservative for timber at risk of fungal decay — fence posts, pergola legs, anywhere wood meets ground or stays damp. Apply before finishing for full protection. For active rot already in the timber, use No-Rot Gel.

Exterior finishes typically need recoating every 2–4 years depending on exposure. Decks in direct sun and rain are at the shorter end; covered or shaded areas at the longer end. Annual inspection is the best way to judge.

Surface timber should be dry — under 18% moisture content for best penetration. The product itself works in damp conditions once cured, but absorbs much better into dry timber. If in doubt, give it a sunny day or two.

Most decking oils are touch-dry in 2–4 hours and ready for light foot traffic in 12–24 hours. Allow 72 hours before heavy use or placing furniture. Always check the product’s Technical Data Sheet for exact times — they vary with temperature and humidity.

Penetrating oils and preservatives are designed to soak in rather than form a film, so paint will adhere to surface fibres but won’t bond well. If you want to paint later, use a primer compatible with oil-treated timber.
